The shapes of brooches can be the most fanciful of all.
As long as they hang well, the sky is the limit.
They can convey information by being quite literal representations of animals,
objects, or even slogans. Or they can be quite abstract conveying only design and style.
Although I sometimes use animal or floral imagery, I go for the decorative value of a piece.
All the possibilities excite the sculptor in me.
One area of frustration for me is the unsatisfactory design and quality of most commercial pin-backs, so I have begun to experiment with making my own since I believe that all parts of a piece must be of the highest quality.
